Common Washer Problems

Front-opening or lid-style, your washer probably landed on our route for one of these reasons. Each card lists the components we test first.

  • Drum stays full of water

A sock or coin wedged in the pump, a lint-choked pump filter, or a drain motor that finally burned out.

Usual suspectsDrain pump, pump filter, drain motor

  • Spin never gets going

The belt has slipped off its pulley, the lid sensor thinks the lid is open, or the motor controller is fading.

Usual suspectsDrive belt, lid sensor, motor controller

  • Thumps and walks across the floor

Tired shock absorbers, a snapped suspension spring or feet that drifted off level over time.

Usual suspectsShocks, suspension springs, leveling feet

  • Door won't release the load

The lock mechanism jammed shut, or leftover water inside keeps the safety latch engaged.

Usual suspectsDoor lock, water level sensor, main board

  • Water seeping out the bottom

A split door seal, a cracked fill valve or a pump clamp that slipped loose behind the panel.

Usual suspectsDoor seal, fill valve, pump clamp

  • Laundry smells sour after washing

Detergent buildup in the drawer and drum folds, plus a drain that leaves murky water behind.

Washer Codes on the Board

Newer washers tend to blink a short code right before they give up mid-cycle. Spot yours on these boards and see if you can handle it or need us.

    Water not filling

Water is not coming in the way it should. Open both supply valves fully and clean the small screens where the lines attach.

    Too many suds

The washer pauses to let the foam settle. Use HE detergent and measure a little less next load.

    Clutch position error

The part that switches the drum between wash and spin is not landing where the board expects.

Washer Repair Reviews

Texts from Grapevine households after the laundry pile finally started shrinking.

Daria K.Historic Downtown, Grapevine

Washer stopped draining halfway through a load of sheets. Not fun.

Your tech fished a kid's hair clip out of the pump, and within the hour it was draining like new. Thank you!

Ours used to bang so hard on spin that the dog would leave the room.

New shocks plus a little leveling, and these days it's whisper quiet. Dog approves too.

Front loader kept my work clothes hostage every single cycle.

He swapped the door lock the same afternoon and showed me where the manual release is. Super helpful.

Before You Call

Work down the list. Each yes moves you along, and each no pairs with something quick you can try yourself.

  1. Does the display light up when you press Power?

Check that the plug is pushed all the way in, then switch the laundry room breaker off and on again.

  2. Are both water valves behind the washer fully open?

Turn each valve all the way counterclockwise and straighten any fill line that has a sharp bend.

  3. Is the load spread evenly around the drum?

Pull out bulky things such as bath mats or comforters and spread them around before the next spin.

  4. Does the door or lid click shut firmly?

Clear any sleeve caught in the opening and press the door closed until you hear the latch.

Still stuck after all four?

Certified and insured repair techs come out and see it through.
